The Area of Pitlochry

The following is an updated version of an insert in the Pitlochry Golf Course Official Handbook of 1976/77. It still stands as a true reflection of the goings on in and around this pictographic dwelling today.

“Pitlochry on the road to the isles has many other claims to fame beside its noted golf course. It is a charming Highland resort renowned for its Festival Theatre and its April to October season, its fine hotels and their amenities, its fishing, sailing, boating, Highland Games, tennis, hill walking, mountaineering and at no great distance from the town, skiing as well. No wonder it is a popular conference centre”.

“Besides all this, Pitlochry is not far from the centre of the Highlands with all the romantic history and even more romantic scenery. Lochs, waterfalls, castles and mountains- and don’t forget that the ski lifts enable the non climber to reach some of the finest view points- tumbling rivers, rare flowers and birds. Pitlochry has them all. It is indeed a marvellous spot for relaxation”.
