The Pitlochry Golf Club has been around for approximately 100 years. Play
has been on both the old nine-hole course, which now lies under Faskally Loch
at the southwest corner of the town and the golf course as it now presently
sits.
At present there are around 250 playing members, with up to 80 competitors
on any medal day. Competition days are Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. As
well as the medal rounds there are a wide range of further competitions in which
golfers can participate. The Golf Club runs various scratch and handicap matchplay
tournaments throughout the busy season, some are straight entry by contacting
the secretary and others have a qualifying strokeplay medal where the top 16
make it into the knockout stages. Membership is open to men and
ladies. Further information can be obtained by contacting
the Golf Club. For the hardy golfer there is also a winter league organised
from November to March, played on the shortened, winter course lay out.
As a member of the Perth and Kinross County Golf Union, the Golf
Club also participate in annual inter club matches in such competitions as the
Scratch League, Coronation Trophy, Stroyan Trophy, Bell Trophy and Cowan Cup.
